Axolotls are a special type of salamander that can be found in Mexico. Unlike most salamanders, which undergo metamorphosis and live on land, Axolotls never outgrown the aquatic juvenile stage. They live in the water for their entire life.
These adorable salamanders have feathery gills, webbed feet, a tail- and a cute little smile! My son first discovered axolotls in minecraft and fell in love with them! We saw one at the aquarium store once thought about bringing it home (they do well in captivity).
