And while I am not a huge fan of video games in general, I really like Minecraft and I love seeing the creations my kids make while playing.
One of my kids has a giant farm, and breeds all sorts of animals. 3 others made their own giant world with amazing buildings inside.
But if you want to get the kids off the screen and get them creating with their hands instead, these Minecraft perler bead patterns are just what you need.
What are Perler Beads?
Perler beads are small, plastic beads that are used for arts and crafts. They can also be known as the generic name of fuse beads.
Perler beads come in a variety of colors and are used to create designs and patterns on a pegboard. Once the design is complete, the beads are fused together using a hot iron, which melts the plastic slightly and fuses the beads together.
Perler beads can be used by children and adults alike to create a wide range of projects, from simple designs like coasters and keychains to more complex projects like 3D sculptures and mosaics. They are popular for their versatility, as they can be used to create almost any design, and for their affordability, as they are relatively inexpensive and easy to find at most craft stores or online.
They are perfect for building small hand muscles in kids and can keep kids entertained for hours!
How to Use the Minecraft Perler Bead Patterns
These Minecraft Perler bead patterns are PDF. They can be printed full size- 8.5 x 11- or you can scale them down to the size you want using your printer settings.
You will need Perler beads in various colors and a square peg board that is at least 21×21 pegs square.
To use the patterns simply print the Minecraft item you want to build, collect the Perler beads in the colors needed, and build the design on a square pegboard.
Once the design is complete, place a sheet of parchment paper (or the paper that came with your Perler beads) on top of the design and iron it gently until the beads slightly melt and fuse together. Allow to cool completely before using the designs in anyway.
What can you do with the completed Minecraft objects? Here are a few ideas:
- Place an extra bead at the very top center of the design and use it to hang a ribbon, hook, or string through and you’ve got yourself some Minecraft Christmas ornaments!
- Glue or stick a magnet to the back of your designs for a fun refrigerator magnet.
- Pretend play props- the kids can use their imaginations and use these as figures in their games
- As gifts for other Minecraft loving kids (kids love making gifts for each other!)
You can also expand the Minecraft patterns to make 3-d Perler bead items.
To do this, build the object as stated on the pattern. Then choose a different color to fill in all of the extra space around the item on the peg board.
Do this 5-6 times. You can make 5-6 of the same item, or make a different one each time.
Once complete you should have 5-6 full squares.
Using a hot glue gun, glue the items together into a box. 5 will give you an open box, 6 designs will give you a closed cube.
