For solvers who find medium puzzles a little too comfortable, these printable hard sudoku puzzles are here to deliver a real test. With significantly fewer starting numbers to work from, you’ll need sharp logic, patience, and a few advanced strategies to crack each grid. This is sudoku for people who want to think, not just fill in blanks.
This difficulty level is best suited for experienced solvers, teens and adults who’ve worked their way up through easier puzzles, or anyone looking for a genuinely engaging brain workout.

These aren’t quick five-minute fillers; expect to slow down, test a few possibilities, and sometimes backtrack before the solution clicks into place. They’re a great option for puzzle nights, long car rides, or any time you want a challenge that actually takes some effort to beat.

How to Play Sudoku
Sudoku is played on a 9×9 grid, divided into nine smaller 3×3 boxes. The goal is to fill in every empty square with a number from 1 to 9, following three simple rules:
Each row (left to right) must contain the numbers 1-9, with no repeats.
Each column (top to bottom) must contain the numbers 1-9, with no repeats.
Each 3×3 box must contain the numbers 1-9, with no repeats.
Start with the squares that have the fewest options, like a row or box that’s already mostly filled in. Work through the puzzle a bit at a time, and if you get stuck, step away and come back with fresh eyes!
