What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring and remembering the brave men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
Observed on the last Monday of May, this solemn day allows Americans to reflect on the sacrifices made by soldiers to protect the country’s freedom and values.
Memorial Day traditions often include visiting cemeteries and memorials, participating in parades, and holding family gatherings, ensuring that the legacy of fallen heroes is remembered and cherished by all.
How to Play Memorial Day Scattergories:
If you’ve ever played the board game Scattergories, then you’ll understand the rules for this printable Memorial Day version!
It’s easy to play– all you need is a timer, a few pens or pencils, and your players!
To start, print out the printable game boards. Make sure there is one for each player.
The rules are easy: think of something for each category that starts with the indicated letter within the given time frame. 2-5 minutes is good, based on the ages of the players.
For example, if you are using the first board, with USA, on the top. Round one, every answer should start with a U. Round 2, should begin with an S, and so on.
Once the timer rings, compare answers. You get one point for every unique answer. If your answer matches another players- no one gets points! A bonus point is given for doubles- ie, Famous American for letter H, Herbert Hoover would be given 2 points.
Keep playing until you’ve finished your card- or both- and then tally up your points. The highest number wins!
