Candy corn is one of those odd candies. It’s really sweet. It kind of tastes like wax. It’s full of corn syrup and food dye. But, people love it.

In fact, it’s almost like most people are closet candy corn lovers. Even my son, who hates most “sugar” candy and loves all things chocolate, likes candy corn.

We don’t get it often, once a season, if that.  But this year, since my kids (like many others) are obsessed with slime, I thought we’d try making some edible, candy corn slime!

And it turned out really great! Messy. But totally fun!

How to Make Edible Candy Corn Slime!

So to make candy corn slime you only need 3 ingredients.

1 bag of candy corn
3-4 cups (not quite the whole bag) of mini marshmallows
Powdered sugar

You will also need a microwave safe bowl, a couple sturdy spoons, and a clean surface or large cutting board to dust and knead your slime on.

Start by pouring the candy corn in the microwave safe bowl.

Heat in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between.

candy corn slime melting

It only took 3 sessions to get my candy corn pretty melty and hot.

Next add in your marshmallows and stir really well.

The heat from the candy corn should do the job of melting the marshmallows. But you can heat it for another 15-30 seconds if you need to.

Once it’s all mixed together, add some powdered sugar and stir.

Dust your surface generously with powdered sugar- really generously!

Pour and scrape the candy corn slime onto your dusted surface. You can use your hands a this step, but I suggest either covering your hands with sugar OR buttering your hands first.

Then it’s time to knead.  Move fast and keep adding sugar to prevent sticking.

Note- if you have ever made marshmallow fondant, this slime is very similar to that in consistency.

Eventually your slime with come together. It does stay fairly sticky, so we played with it on our powdered sugar covered table and cutting board. Sugar was everywhere! But the kids had a blast!

As it cools the slime will get a little less sticky, but you still will need either buttered hands or powdered hands if you really want to squish this candy corn slime.

We explored stretching, rolling, squeezing, and tasting the slime!

My kids thought the consistency and taste were similar to fondant, taffy, or soft tootsie rolls.

How to Store Candy Corn Slime

Because of the sticky nature of the slime, it takes some care when it comes to storing.

From my days of making fondant, I can tell you that if you try to wrap the candy corn slime without greasing you will get a big sticky mess!

To store your slime you need to butter (you can also use Crisco) your hands and then use your greased hands to completely cover the outside of your slime.

Then place the greased candy corn slime onto plastic wrap and wrap tightly.

Store at room temperature.

It should keep quite awhile- after all candy corn and marshmallows last awhile! But more than likely your kids will play (and eat) it within a week or so!
